What is Needs and Nations?
Needs and Nations is an alternative delivery method which focuses on using role play to build consensus building, critical thinking, and decision making skills in students while simultaneously linking to outcome based content. Needs and Nations has been developed by Craig Saunders (2016) for application in social studies classrooms from grade 8-12.
OUR PHILOSOPHY
Needs and Nations was developed to address a single question: How can educators bring social studies content to life?
Dedication
To Gary Gygax and the continued effort of Wizards of the Coast for all the joy they give to players, big and small.
To Liz for standing by my side through good and bad, and keeping me from starving to death in the process.
To my dad, for showing me the wonder that can be found in role-playing from a young age.
Without these people, this project would never have happened.
- Craig Saunders, Creator of the Needs and Nations Educational Roleplaying Game
Additionally, a special thank you to three students of mine for dedicating their time to help me build this system.
